Belgian Girl Scouts Visiting Piatra Craiului Mountains

July 2012

The Girl Scouts organization from Waasmunster (Belgium) decided to visit Romanian Mountains this year. Willem and Dorien planned the trip together with our team so it would suit their wishes. Curmatura Chalet from Piatra Craiului Mountains was the best choice for our plans. Once we arrived at Curmatura the girls amazed us with their camping techniques. In 15 minutes they managed to install the two big tents they had. The job we very well organized, every girl knowing what to do.
After the camp was installed part of the group did a hike to Piatra Mica Peak. The trail to Piatra Mica includes some rock scrambling which was handled very well by the girls. The next day the group climbed to the main ridge and hiked along to Ascutit Peak. One of the girls had asthma and wanted to return to the chalet, but her colleagues helped her finish the climb. This was a great achievement was happy for her. The way down easier, so we gathered some fallen branches to build a camp fire. For some of the girls this was the first camp fire.
In the last day we descended to Zarnesti passing the gorge. We thank Vasile from Curmatura Chalet for helping us with part of the luggage. This made our hike much more enjoyable.
