At the beginning of June Your Guide team received a request from an old friend, Mr. Radu Suciu. He was nostalgically recalling the times when he was climbing the classic routes in Piatra Craiului Mountains. The season was already open, so we proposed to climb together a long classic route that includes both free climbing and aided climbing. The weather was very good, so we left to Plaiu Foii where we met Arpi, who wanted to climb with us that day.
After a three hour approach we started to climb. The first three pitches combined free with aided climbing. During the next four pitches we had the chance to experience rare beauty free climbing. Finally we reached the place called Amvon. As a reword for our work we got a beautiful panorama over peaks and ridges together with a few black goats, the real sentinels of these mountains. That moment we wanted to stop time and stay there forever.
But daily duties were waiting for us, so we descended on Valcelul cu Fereastra all the way down to the cold beer that was waiting for us as a second reward. After this experience it’s easy to understand why the route is called Creasta Prieteniei (Friendship Ridge). We thank the one who opened the route.
